Sydneysiders have cast a record number of votes in the 2011 City of Sydney Business Awards. 640 businesses were nominated receiving 67,000 votes, a 62 per cent increase in the number of votes from last year.
"I'm delighted that Sydneysiders have shown such incredible support for their favourite small businesses this year, giving entrepreneurs all over our City a fantastic opportunity to increase their profile, expand their customer network and take their business ideas to the next level." the Lord Mayor said.
New small bar venues including Grandma's, Stitch, 13B and CORRIDOR were nominated in this year's Small Bar category reflecting the surprising growth in the sector despite all the doom and gloom. Another point of interest is we appear to have a bike boom on our hands. 13 Bicycle Businesses were nominated and more than 500 votes received in this category alone.
