'We were moving up to the Northern
Beaches in Sydney (and why wouldn't you [commute aside] - it is
gorgeous up here) and were looking for temporary accommodation
in case we needed it. The caravan park near Narrabeen Lake /Lagoon,
LakeSide I think it's called, looked like a good spot so I emailed
them and enquired if they had any discount rates. We could have
been there for a few weeks so we wanted to get the best deal possible.
The email that came back was just the same as the listed prices
on their website. So, almost as an after thought, I type in the
Caravan Parks name into the Hotel Club website and the rates were
significantly cheaper. As it happens we never went through with
it as we managed to find a rental property in time. But I would
certainly advise anyone who is about to book a vacation or holiday
to try their website before you book. Seems dum of the caravan
park not to tell me there had specials on and I suspect other
operators are equally economic with the truth if they feel they

and not having a huge amount of time I headed off in the direction
of Angus and Coote in Pitt street to purchase a ring for my girlfriend.
I have to agree with everything said (re Keith's review) bar a
pushy South African salesmen who wanted to know all about me and
my day which you don't need when in a hurry. He effectively drove
me out of the shop (although I did return briefly when the coast
was clear). Prouds won my business (Corner of Pitt and King) as
A/ Leah, their sales girl was brilliant and B/ they had a sale
on and the right ring.
They also have a dungeon where they altered the ring size for
stuff all (about $20). I noticed they didn't charge the lady before
me as they couldn't service her watch properly on account of its
age. Finally, there doesn't appear to be any natural sunlight
for the guys down there so spare a thought if they look less than
ecstatic about their work - not sure I’d be too happy working
under those kind of conditions". |

"We broke down and
were towed to Hans garage [Seaboard Motors]. I had asked the tow
truck driver for a recommended garage and Hans had been his answer.
We had to the leave the car outside and wait till Monday (we broke
down late on a Saturday). Hans had us back on the road by Wednesday.
Hans didn't overcharge and took the time to explain exactly what
was wrong with the clutch and what he needed to do to fix the
problem. I wouldn't claim he is a miracle worker or that he is
necessarily the cheapest option. More that he appears honest and
reliable. We will go back to him for our next service so we'll
let you know if we change our minds!" |

cleaned by Sunstruck Window. Cleaners - Large two storey, three
bedroom townhouse in the Northern Beaches. The house was new
but the windows had not been cleaned for six months. We needed
to pass the agents inspection to retrieve our bond money. They
did the a good enough job to get pass the estate agent. Cost
was $220 (excluding GST). Interestingly we had the same problem
as Danielle getting anyone else to show up!

smelly cabs when you can call Sonny direct. Cabby Sonny Lama works
early shifts to around 5pm depending upon how busy he is. So he's

Good Guys in Chatswood is one of the cheapest stores around here
for computers (Northshore) and the shop assistants seemed to know
a least something about notebooks / laptop computers. Ended up
buying a notebook through Dell on-line as it was on special but
worth going to the Good Guys so you can see what you're considering
buying. Having mentioned Dell the notebook's keyboard broke within
a couple of weeks - good news is Dell came to our house and replaced
the keyboard free of charge" |

Mark Irvine of Tyrrells
has impressed the socks off of me. We have just recently purchase
a house up in Warriewood in Sydney's Northern Beaches. Mark conducted
the initial inspection and told us that there was a potential
issue with damp and termites but that he was unable to gain access
to the sub floor of the house. After a talking to the real estate
agent they discovered a 'manhole' in the floorboards and Mark
dutifully went back. He then told us that the underneath of the
house was seriously damp and went through all the options with
me as to how to deal with it. However, he could only see a quarter
of the area and couldn't be 100% certain there wasn't more serious
problems elsewhere e.g. termites. After another discussion with
the agent another manhole was discovered in the floorboards. We
are now up to 4pm and Mark is about to clock off and go on holiday
for five weeks. I rang him again, maybe i shouldn't have but I
did, and asked if there was someone else in the office who could
'look into it' for us. So despite having one foot metaphorically
out of the door he went back for a third time. When he rang back
he was happy to report no serious concerns. He didn't have to
go back once let alone twice and I doubt if many of us his situation
would have done. The guy is a true professional, a credit to his
employer and proof that you can get great service if you get the
right people. I won't give you his direct number as I'm not sure
he'd appreciate it but if you ring Tyrrells [1300 131 270] ask
for Mark Irvine I doubt if he'd object and maybe they'd realise
what a great asset he is and give him a pay rise. |
